Archbishop Gaute Ivarsson's coinage

Mint site:
Nidaros
Monetary units:
Witten and hohlpfennig

A coronation charter which King Hans had to sign before the Norwegian National Council would agree to elect him as king on 1 February 1483, once again gave the Archbishop of Nidaros the right to issue coins:
Likewise do We, following the recommendation of the Council in Norway, permit the coining and striking of pennies in Trondheim in accordance with the privileges of Nidaros Cathedral.
The wittens issued by Archbishop Gaute Ivarsson carry the Norwegian national coat of arms and the inscription SAN OLAWS REX, in reference to the sovereignty of St. Olav as patron saint of the city and archbishopric and eternal King of Norway.
