Olav IV Håkonsson, who took over government with his powerful mother, Queen Margaret, issued hohlpfennigs with a crowned "O". When his father died, Olav had already been king of Denmark for three years. This was the beginning of Norway's centuries-long union with Denmark. After the death of Olav in 1387, no confirmed Norwegian are known until the reign of King Hans (1483-1513).
