På In 1866, 578 coins, coin fragments and some small pieces of unminted silver were found under a large rock in a field at Slethei in Tjora, Sola in Rogaland. The find at Slethei has the largest proportion of Anglo-Saxon pennies of any find in Scandinavia.

Anglo-Saxon pennies accounted for approximately 95% of the coins in the find. In a North-European context, the number of English pennies as compared to German pennies is very high for a Viking hoard. We therefore believe that the coins came directly from England to Norway.
