In 1959, 596 coins were found during archaeological investigations in Ranem Church in Overhalla parish, Nord-Trøndelag. Among the Norwegian coins was a quarter penny from the time of Magnus Lagabøte and quarter pennies and pennies from Eirik Magnusson's time, 21 in all, and 18 pieces from Håkon V
 

More recent coins included a witten from King Hans and a four witten piece or skilling from Oslo 1535 (Christian III). There were some Danish coins in the find as well, representing those of Erik of Pomerania, Christopher of Bavaria and the Interregnum 1448. 

The Norwegian bracteates span a long period, from the time of King Sverre to Håkon V. According to the current overview, the coins and bracteates may date as far back as 1150.
