The small island Havnøy at Rødøy in Nordland was the site of the largest Norwegian find of English sterlings. During the years 1912-1916, 188 English (and a few other) sterlings were found while quarrying stone.

The coins date from the middle of the 1200s to the mid-1300s. The latest coin was minted in London in 1353. It is not unreasonable to assume that these sterlings arrived in Nordland via Bergen.
