In 1966
and 1968, 497 coins were found in the course of archaeological excavations
in Dønna Church at Dønna in Nordland. The excavations were
led by Håkon Christie from the office of the Director General of
Historic Monuments.
The finds included Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and German coins. Most of the coins were from the Middle Ages, the oldest being three bracteates from the reign of Håkon Håkonsson (1217-1263). |
